Job Summary

The Aircraft Assembly Mechanic is responsible for assembling, installing, sealing, rigging, inspecting, and completing precision structural and system components in accordance with engineering drawings, process specifications, quality requirements, and established procedures. The role supports efficient manufacturing flow, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, and contributes to continuous improvement through teamwork and cross‑training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision and structural components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, process specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Perform functional testing of assemblies and components and ensure proper fit, form, and function; make corrections as required.
  • Interpret and obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work instructions, manuals, verbal and electronic sources.
  • Apply shop mathematics and use precision measuring and test instruments to complete work assignments and verify product conformance.
  • Utilize appropriate tooling, fixtures, and equipment to assemble components into sub‑assemblies or end items.
  • Verify that all work performed meets engineering and process specifications; identify and document discrepancies in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment certifications are current and compliant with procedural requirements.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily duties, including basic Total Preventive Maintenance activities (e.g., filter replacement, bulb changes, lubrication/coolant checks).
  • Move products within the immediate manufacturing area using assigned equipment and complete required system transactions to support flow to the next operation.
  • Work within allotted production schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Support continuous manufacturing flow by assisting and training employees across various classification levels.
  • Assist in the training of assembly personnel in assembly, installation, and inspection techniques.
  • Cross‑train in inspection functions and become SIA qualified.

Technical Scope –

  • Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC fastening equipment with fewer than simultaneous 3‑axis movements.
  • Perform tasks involving drivematic processes and related fastening operations.
  • Execute work in one or more of the following specialties:
  • Structural Assembly / Installation
  • Sealer and Sealing Operations
  • Sub‑Assembly

Specialty Skills (One or More Required)

  • Assembly and Installation of Structures
  • Door Assembly / Installation
  • Integral Fuel Cell Sealing
  • Precision Bench Assembly
  • Pressure and Vacuum Testing

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with multi‑layer layup and integration, including fuselage structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in precision hand tools, fastening equipment, sealants, and measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of FOD prevention, tool control, and aerospace safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based manufacturing environment and support continuous process flow.
