The South Dakota Attorney General's Office is seeking a highly organized and motivated Analyst to be assigned to the South Dakota Medicaid Fraud, Abuse, and Neglect Services Unit. This position is responsible for the receipt, analysis, and dissemination of sensitive and confidential criminal intelligence, financial records and will provide direct support to state law enforcement officers and prosecutors, as well as agency executives.

The right candidate will operate and/or assist in the operation of several computer software programs, such as Zuercher, BankScan, and Matrix Prosecutor. Legal services experience is beneficial but not required.

This position requires a flexible schedule, and may work outside of normal business hours.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a background investigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • operate computers and associated hardware and software;
  • display good verbal and written communication skills;
  • organize and prioritize tasks under pressure;
  • analyze complex topics to include financial records, phone records, social media records etc.;
  • conduct research regarding topics, events, or subjects having importance to agency executives and policy makers;
  • learn and comprehend South Dakota Criminal Codes;
  • provide direct testimonial evidence during adversarial court proceedings.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • In lieu of education, demonstrated analytical experience, statistical analysis, or related experience involving research and critical thinking in either the public or private sector is required.
  • Experience using computer databases, spreadsheet programs, and other relevant web-based analytical software.
  • Techniques for acquiring information from multiple sources and databases.
  • Knowledge in operations of different software programs.
  • Working knowledge in Financial Records and Banking Systems.
  • Experience in cellular networks infrastructure.
  • Experience in criminal law.
  • Ability to successfully complete all necessary certifications as required by the agency.
