To help meet our mission, we are looking for an Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audits Team.

Associate Management Auditor

You will be responsible for independently planning, conducting, and reporting on the results of complex operational, performance, compliance, information systems, and financial related audits of the California State Lottery. You will act as the auditor-in-charge and exercise professional judgment and analytical skills throughout each phase of the audit engagement.

Working Conditions

a. Schedule: Full-time (8-hour days) with work hours between the times of 7am – 5pm PST

b. Travel: Travel may be required for conducting audits, local training, or off-site events.

c. Other: This position is headquartered at the Sacramento HQ and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California."

  • The California State Lottery Act provides that no person may be hired as an employee of the Commission if that person has been convicted of a felony or any gambling related offense.
  • The position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write clear and well-supported audit reports
  • Knowledge of internal controls, risk-based auditing, and audit standards
  • Ability to lead audits as auditor-in-charge and collaborate with assisting auditors
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments within deadlines
  • Demonstrated internal audit experience

Statement of Qualifications

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of the candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Applications that fail to submit an SOQ that specifically addresses the questions and that do not follow these directions will be eliminated from the examination process. The Statement of Qualifications should be typed no more than one page in length, using Arial size 12 pt. font, and standard margins.
