POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Designer supports the design team across all womenswear categories within a contemporary brand environment, contributing to the development of seasonal collections from concept through production. This role reports directly to the Senior Designer of Sportswear and the Senior Designer of Denim, and requires a strong eye for detail, technical knowledge of garment construction, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support the design team through all stages of the product lifecycle, from initial concept to final production across multiple categories
· Create and update technical sketches and CADs using Adobe Illustrator
· Assist in building and maintaining accurate, detailed tech packs for development and production
· Conduct trend, market, and competitor research relevant to the contemporary womenswear space; compile and present findings
· Organize and maintain design boards, seasonal concepts, and reference materials
· Review and track development submissions, including lab dips, fabrics, trims, color cards, and washes; provide clear and concise comments for revisions
· Communicate with sample rooms and cross-functional teams to support style development and ensure timelines are met
· Maintain and update line sheets, CADs, color standards, and seasonal charts across all categories
· Organize and archive design assets, including prints, purchased samples, development swatches, and bulk materials
· Assist in preparing materials for internal design reviews, presentations, and sales meetings
· Track, organize, and manage incoming and outgoing samples, ensuring proper labeling, organization, and storage
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
· 1–3 years of experience in the womenswear apparel industry (contemporary experience preferred; internships considered)
· Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and fit across categories including sportswear and denim
· Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel
· Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
· Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
